Our usage tips
How to use the Metal Hard chain handcuffs
- Agree on a word or signal to stop, before you start. It has to work even if the person can't speak.
- Pass the small end of the chain through the two large rings to form two loops.
- Put the wrists or ankles in the loops and adjust them without pulling too tight. You should be able to fit a finger between the chain and the skin.
- Lock the chain with the padlock and keep the key within reach, where you can both see it.
- Check every so often on the hands or feet. If you notice coldness, tingling or a change in colour, release the chain.
Cleaning
Wipe it with a damp cloth, warm water and mild soap after each use. Dry it well, including between the links, and store it dry.
Our tips
- Never leave a person alone while they are restrained with the handcuffs, not even for a moment.
- Don't pull hard on the chain or hang weight from it.
- Don't put it around the neck.
- If the chain rubs or marks the skin, or pain appears, stop and release it.
- If you notice itching or skin irritation, stop using them.
What the science says
What the science says about communication between partners during sex
The studies we cite did not test these handcuffs. What they looked at is how couples communicate during sex: whether they say things clearly and whether each person feels they really want what they are doing.
In three studies, the first with 392 adults in relationships, feeling a high level of internal consent and using explicit verbal cues were associated with greater sexual and relationship satisfaction.
