Is it for you?

Who Pjur Med Soft is for, and who it isn't

It suits you if…

  • You want a lubricant designed for very dry, sensitive genital mucous membranes.
  • You want a long-lasting silicone-based lubricant where a small amount is enough.
  • You prefer one with no fragrance or added flavour, made with jojoba oil.
  • You're going to use it with latex condoms.

Better look elsewhere if…

  • You want it for silicone toys. For those, a water-based lubricant like the Pjur Med Sensitive Glide is better.
  • You'd rather have a lubricant that rinses off with water alone. This one comes off with water and soap.
  • You're looking for a flavoured lubricant. This one has no added flavour.
  • You're allergic to any of its ingredients. It contains silicones and jojoba oil.

Step by step

How to use Pjur Med Soft

  1. Start with a small amount. The manufacturer notes that a silicone-based lubricant goes a long way.
  2. Apply it to the intimate area (penis or vagina), on skin and mucous membrane that has no wounds or irritation.
  3. With a latex condom, apply it on the outside once the condom is on.
  4. Add more if you need to. Whatever you take out of the pack is for that session: don't save it for another time.
  5. With silicone toys, use a different one. This is our advice: a water-based lubricant works better with them.

Cleaning

It stays on the surface of the skin and isn't absorbed. It washes off with water and mild soap, and it's worth wiping up anything that drips on the floor because it gets slippery.

Manufacturer's warnings

  • Avoid contact with the eyes and with irritated skin or mucous membrane.
  • If the irritation continues, see a doctor.
  • It is not a contraceptive or a spermicide.
  • It can make smooth surfaces slippery.
  • Store at room temperature, away from sunlight and out of the reach of children.

What the science says

What the science says about water-based and silicone-based lubricants

The studies we cite did not test Pjur Med Soft. What has been studied is the use of water-based and silicone-based lubricants, which helps compare the two bases.

2,453
adult women

In a 5-week diary covering six lubricants, water-based ones were associated with fewer genital symptoms than silicone-based ones, and both types with more pleasure and sexual satisfaction. This is an association, not proof of cause and effect.

Questions

Pjur Med Soft: frequently asked questions

What is Pjur Med Soft based on?

Silicone. More than 98% of the formula is silicones and the rest is jojoba oil.

Can you use Pjur Med Soft with a condom?

Yes, with latex condoms. Apply it on the outside once the condom is on, and remember that it is not a contraceptive or a spermicide.

Is Pjur Med Soft suitable for silicone toys?

The manufacturer doesn't publish this for this model. Our advice is to use a water-based lubricant with them, such as Pjur Med Sensitive Glide.

How do you remove Pjur Med Soft from the skin?

With water and mild soap. It stays on the surface of the skin and isn't absorbed.

Does Pjur Med Soft contain fragrance?

No. It is made with no added fragrance or flavour, and its skin compatibility has been dermatologically tested.

Can you use Pjur Med Soft for anal sex?

We haven't confirmed this. The manufacturer's instructions for use talk about applying it to the penis and vagina area, on skin and mucous membrane with no wounds.

What's the difference between the 1.5 ml and the 100 ml Pjur Med Soft?

Only the amount. Both packs contain the same silicone-based lubricant with jojoba.

Is Pjur Med Soft edible?

We haven't confirmed that it's safe to swallow, so don't use it as an edible lubricant. It is made with no added flavour.
