Flavoured lubes: frequently asked questions

Can flavoured lubes be used for vaginal penetration?

You can use them, but they are not ideal: flavourings and sugars can upset vaginal pH. For penetration, use an unflavoured water-based lubricant and keep the flavoured one for the areas you are going to lick. If you notice itching or stinging, wash the area with water and stop using it.

Can you swallow flavoured lube?

Yes, in the normal amount used during oral sex, if the product page says it is edible or safe to swallow. It is meant for licking, not for eating.

Are there chocolate flavoured lubes?

Yes. There are chocolate and pistachio chocolate ones; the flavour is always in the product name.

Can you use them for anal sex?

It is not the best choice. For anal sex it is better to use an anal lubricant, made for that area; keep flavoured lube for oral sex and external play.
