Rabbit Vibrators

A rabbit vibrator has a shaft that goes inside the vagina towards the G-spot and an outer arm with little ears that stimulates the clitoris at the same time. To choose, first check that the distance between the shaft and the arm suits your body, then look at the function: rotation, suction, heat or app.

What is a rabbit vibrator?

The rabbit vibrator, also known as a rampant rabbit, has a shaft that goes into the vagina and points at the G-spot, and an outer arm shaped like little ears that vibrates against the clitoris. It stimulates both areas at once thanks to its double arm with independent motors. It is probably the most popular design in women's toys since it appeared in pop culture more than two decades ago: Sex and the City made it famous and, 25 years later, it is still the best-selling vibrator in the world.

If you only want external stimulation, clitoral vibrators or clitoral suction toys will suit you better; if you only want internal stimulation, try G-spot vibrators.

Types of rabbit vibrators

The brands with the most models here are Pretty Love, CalExotics, Intense, Satisfyer, Fun Factory and Armony. What each arm does changes from one rabbit to another:

  • Classic: the shaft and the ears vibrate, usually with several modes and intensities.
  • With rotation: the shaft turns inside while the ears vibrate.
  • With thrusting: the shaft moves back and forth, a sensation closer to penetration.
  • With suction: the outer arm combines vibration and air pulses, in the style of Satisfyer clitoral suction toys.
  • With tongue or flutter: the outer arm taps or flicks instead of vibrating continuously.
  • With heat: the shaft reaches 37°C, body temperature.
  • With app or remote: controlled from a distance, with a remote or over Bluetooth from your phone, for playing as a couple.
  • Triple stimulation: a third rear arm also stimulates the anal area, as well as the G-spot and the clitoris.
  • Inflatable: the shaft swells to give you more girth at your own pace.

What the studies say

There is hardly any research on rabbits specifically, but there is on vibrator use and on the combined stimulation this design aims for. In a survey of 2,056 women, recent vibrator use was linked to several aspects of sexual function, such as desire, arousal, lubrication and orgasm, and those who used one scored higher on most of them (Herbenick et al., 2009, J Sex Med). This is an association: it does not show that the vibrator is the cause.

In another survey of 1,055 women, 18.4% said intercourse alone was enough for them to reach orgasm, 36.6% said they needed clitoral stimulation during intercourse and another 36% said that, without needing it, their orgasms were better with it (Herbenick et al., 2018, J Sex Marital Ther). A review concluded that orgasms could be more intense when clitoral stimulation, stimulation of the front wall of the vagina and oral sex were combined in the same sexual encounter (Arias-Castillo et al., 2023, Arch Gynecol Obstet). The first two are exactly the areas a rabbit touches.

How to choose

  • Outer arm: a rigid one always presses on the same spot; a flexible one bends and adapts to different bodies.
  • Movement: vibration, rotation, thrusting, suction or heat; the product details say what each arm does and, if stated, whether the motors are independent.
  • Size: the product details give the insertable length and the diameter of the shaft; to start with, a slim shaft is better.
  • Material: silicone is soft and easy to clean; if the product details say TPR or do not state the material, clean it more carefully after each use.
  • Water: «fully waterproof (submersible)» is fine for the shower or bath; «water-resistant» or «splashproof» only withstands a little wetness.
  • Power: rechargeable by USB or battery-powered; if the product details give the battery life, compare it between models.

Rabbit Vibrators: frequently asked questions

How do I know if a rabbit will suit my body?

Look at the distance between the shaft and the clitoral arm: if the arm sits far from your clitoris, it does not do its job. Measure the distance between your vaginal opening and your clitoris, which is usually 2-3 cm, and compare it with the product's measurements. Models with a flexible arm, such as the We-Vibe Nova, adapt better to different bodies.

What is the best rabbit vibrator?

It depends on what you are looking for and your budget. As a guide, the Satisfyer Heat Climax offers the best value for money and works well to start with; the Happy Rabbit Classic, from the brand created specifically for this format, is the most balanced; the We-Vibe Nova 2 has a flexible arm and an app, and the Lelo Ina 3 is quiet and high-end. All four are silicone, rechargeable and fully waterproof (submersible). If you want suction, the Womanizer Duo 2 combines its Pleasure Air suction with internal vibration.

Can you use a rabbit as a couple?

Yes, although it is tricky during vaginal penetration, because the shaft takes up the vagina. It works very well during foreplay: your partner handles it while you focus on what you feel, and some models with an app let them adjust the intensity in real time. To use during intercourse, take a look at couples' vibrators.

Which lubricant should I use with a rabbit vibrator?

A water-based lubricant. Silicone-based ones can damage the surface of a silicone toy, and most rabbits are made of silicone.

How do you clean a rabbit?

With warm water and mild soap or a toy cleaner, before and after use, paying attention to the join between the shaft and the arm, and leave it to air dry. If it is not fully waterproof (submersible), do not put it under the tap: wipe it with a damp cloth. Do not boil it, because it contains a motor and a battery.

Is a rabbit suitable if I have never used a vibrator?

Yes, if you fancy trying inside and outside at the same time. Start on the lowest intensity and use lubricant from the beginning. If you do not yet know what you like, a clitoral vibrator is a simpler way to start.

Can you use a rabbit anally?

No. It is designed for the vagina and has no base to stop it slipping inside; for anal play, use anal toys. On triple stimulation models, the rear arm is for the anal area, but the main shaft is still for the vagina.
