What the science says
What the science says about water-based lubricants
The studies we cite did not test this set. What has been studied is the use of water-based and silicone lubricants.
For 5 weeks, they used one of six water-based or silicone lubricants. The water-based ones were associated with fewer genital symptoms than the silicone ones, and both types with more pleasure and satisfaction. This is an association, not a cause and effect relationship.
