What is body jewellery?

It is an adornment for the whole body, not just the neck or wrists, which follows its shape and decorates the torso, waist, shoulders, back or ankles. There are three kinds here. The Magnifique 8 body chain by Bijoux Indiscrets, in silver-toned metal and shaped like a figure eight; its gold anklets, which decorate the top of the foot and fit ankles from 16 to 29 cm; and the adhesive jewels, which are the majority: the iridescent ones by Leg Avenue, such as Iris, Jade and Celestial, and the Gloria sets by Petits Joujoux, with over 300 crystals. There are no harness necklaces, back chains or rhinestone harnesses at the moment. They come in gold, silver, bronze and with crystals, and look good on their own on the skin or combined with lingerie.

Types of body jewellery

If what you are after is an adornment just for the nipples, you will find it in nipple covers.

• Body chains: chains worn over the torso or waist that fasten with a clasp.
• Adhesive jewels: rhinestones or crystals that stick to the skin, on the neckline, stomach or lower back, with no clasps or chains.
• Anklets: ankle bracelets to wear with heels or barefoot.

How to choose

• Fastening: adhesive pieces stick to the skin and have no clasps; chains and anklets fasten with a clasp.
• Placement: the name or product page tells you where it goes, whether that is the torso, waist, neckline or ankles.
• Length and fit: with body chains, adjustability matters more than size.
• Material: if you have sensitive skin, check the product page for the type of metal; if it is not stated, ask us before you buy.
• Pieces included: some sets come with several jewels or many loose crystals to combine as you like.

Can you wear body jewellery outside the home?

Yes. Waist chains and discreet body chains are worn at festivals, weddings and evening parties. Of the ones here, the Magnifique 8 chain can be worn over clothes, with lingerie or on its own on the skin; the Leg Avenue adhesive jewels are designed for festivals and summer parties, and the Bijoux Indiscrets anklets, with a cabaret look, for a party or a photo shoot. The body jewellery trend has been growing in mainstream fashion for years.

What is intimate or erotic jewellery?

Adornments to show off the body in an intimate moment: chains and adhesive jewels on bare skin or with lingerie. The ones in this category do not need a piercing: they fasten with a clasp or stick on.

How do you put on adhesive jewels?

On clean, dry skin, with no cream or oil, pressing for a few seconds. To remove them, peel them off slowly from one edge. Do not apply them to irritated skin and remove them if they itch.

Can you see them under clothes?

Not much, if they are fine chains or flat adhesive pieces. Pieces with pendants or lots of rhinestones show more.
