The essentials
Shunga Toko Aroma: what you need to know before you buy
Is it for you?
Who the Shunga Toko Aroma is for, and who it isn't for
It suits you if…
- You want a flavoured water-based lubricant.
- You want one you can lick and taste.
- You use condoms or latex accessories and need a compatible lubricant.
- You like to choose from several flavours, from Coconut water to Melon and mango.
Better look elsewhere if…
- You want a silicone lubricant. This one is water-based, and Shunga has a silicone version in the Toko range.
- You want a formula without glycerine or propylene glycol. The Coconut water, Cherry, Raspberry, Strawberries and champagne, Exotic fruits and Lychee flavours contain both, plus sucralose.
Step by step
How to use the Shunga Toko Aroma
- Apply a small amount where you want to lubricate, and add more if you need to.
- With a condom, put it on the outside, once the condom is on.
- Try it with your mouth if you like: you can lick it, taste it and suck it.
After use
Rinse it off with water, as it is water-soluble. Then close the bottle tightly.
Our advice
- If it starts to dry out during use, add a little more.
- If you have allergies or sensitive skin, check the ingredients list first. If you notice itching, stinging or irritation, stop using it and wash the area with water.
- A lubricant is not a contraceptive and does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
- It is water-based, and water-based lubricants work with toys of any material and with latex condoms.

What the science says
What science says about water-based lubricants
The studies we cite did not test this lubricant. What was studied is the use of water-based and silicone lubricants, not the Shunga Toko Aroma.
In a 5-week diary study, water-based lubricants were associated with fewer genital symptoms than silicone ones. Both types were associated with more pleasure and sexual satisfaction. This is not a comparison of cause and effect.
