Submersible Vibrators: Pleasure Underwater and Easy Cleaning
Submersible vibrators are completely sealed with IPX7 certification (full immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes). This makes them ideal for use in the shower, bathtub, or jacuzzi, but also much more hygienic: they can be submerged directly under the faucet for thorough cleaning. Over 700 certified models available.
What to Look for in a Submersible Vibrator
Not all vibrators that say "waterproof" are truly so. Look for the IPX7 rating (safe full immersion) or IPX8 (prolonged immersion). IPX5 only withstands splashes — do not submerge it in water. The rating is usually found in the product specifications.
For actual aquatic use: choose a model with firm pressure buttons (that won't activate on their own underwater), medium-high power (vibration transmits differently when submerged), and a non-slip grip. Textured silicone models are the easiest to handle with wet hands.
Lubricant: use silicone-based for water play — water-based will dilute with water. Exception: if your vibrator is silicone, use water-based even in the shower (apply before entering the water).
Frequently Asked Questions about Submersible Vibrators
Can I use any vibrator in the shower?
No. Only those certified IPX7 or higher. A sealed rechargeable vibrator is usually submersible, but one with a battery cover is almost never so (water enters through the cover). Always check the IPX rating in the specifications before getting your toy wet.
Is the vibration less noticeable underwater?
It may feel different: water transmits vibration more diffusely, which in some models feels less intense and in others more enveloping. If you buy a vibrator specifically for aquatic use, choose one with medium-high power.
How long does the battery last for a submersible vibrator in the shower?
The same as out of water — the IPX7 sealing does not affect battery performance. Most rechargeable vibrators offer 45-90 minutes of continuous use, more than enough for any aquatic session.
